    Collision Auto Insurance

In the United States it is mandatory that you carry at least liability insurance on our vehicles, unless your car is still under financing and then the bank requires you to carry full coverage. Today you pay different prices for the different coverage's that are available, when choosing your type of coverage it is important to know what is available to you and what would be the best for you in the long run. Unlike liability which just covers bodily injuries, and the other person's property, collision coverage insurance was designed to pay for the repair of the policy owner's car if they are ever in an accident, no matter who causes the accident, but usually you have to pay a deductible when a claim is made. While most companies offer full coverage insurance, most of the time collision coverage is not covered. So say you buy a brand new car and 5 miles down the road, someone who has no insurance causes you to total your car, if you are not carrying collision coverage then you would be stuck without your car, but still have to make the payments on it.

    Do You Need Collision Coverage?

If you have a newer car, a car that in wonderful condition without any major problems, or would cost a lot to replace, then it might be a good idea to carry collision coverage. If you are unsure about carrying collision coverage, remember that if you get into an accident and you don't have coverage then you will have to flip the whole bill of either replacing the car or getting it fixed. You don't need collision coverage if your vehicle is older and is in bad shape, having this type of insurance will not do you any good, as you will only be paying out money for a car that the insurance company would not give you much for anyways. There are a few negative sides of carrying collision coverage, and you must take these into consideration The insurance company is only going to pay you for what they think your car is worth; of course if you believe that your car is worth more than what they are willing to pay, you can fight them. Try and work with the insurance company, for what you believe your car is worth. If that does not work and you and the insurance company still can't come to terms, take your case to someone above them at the company. Bring your agent in as a friend. You can also seek help from your state insurance commissioner; bring in a friend who knows what kind of shape you kept you're car in, if above else you may want to file a lawsuit. Keep in mind that whatever you do to try to get more, for your loss, the more money you will eventually spend. Your best bet may be to to settle for a somewhat better offer than you got to begin with. Let's say for example that your car is only worth 5000 before the accident, the amount minus the salvage value is 200, your insurance company is not required to pay more than 4800 for the vehicle to be fixed, any more than that you will have to flip the bill or your insurance company would come and buy the car from you for only 4800.

The Pros of Carrying Collision Coverage

You may think that you are the best driver in the world, but you can't forecast the future. For example you're driving down the road and the unthinkable happens, someone pulls out in front of you not giving you time to react, and it causes an accident, they have no insurance, what happens now. Thankfully you have collision coverage, not only will your car be fixed but you will also be able to use a rental car so you're not down and out for too long. Collision coverage will also fix your if you run into a ditch, a tree or anything else. By researching collision coverage, you may save yourself from a lot of headaches in the near future.
